  1. the four dead queens was my favorite book because of the plot. it started out with two thevies friends and the plot of how theres four queens. one for each territory. there was alot of betrayal that i didnt expect. the characthers are also good. mackiel betrayed my main characther keralie. mackiel had such a ruthless personlity. all the personalities of the characthers are different. my least favorite part is when keralie got caught killing the queens i was confused until they explain in the book she was controlled and the fact that mackiel and arebella queen marguerite daughter took over. my favorite part was when keralie got help by varin who also betrayed her,he came back for her. i also like how marguerite came back and was like to her daughter your not queen and never will be. arebella was most likely surpised and unhappy

  2. My favorite book this trimester was the book "Night" by Elie Wiezel. It was a very good book as to how descriptive it actually was. The theme and the characters were my favorite. The theme sort of had an overall lesson of fight for yourself, and the characters Elie and his father were my favorite, because they showed a passionate and loving relationship towards one another. My least favorite was "Stotan!" because I just didn't like the topic or how it was written at all.

  4. Out of the three books I read, "A Long Way Gone" by Ishamel Beah was the favorite. The author was very descriptive about what his surroundings were like and he gave a lot twists and turns. He really wanted the reader to understand what was happening during his childhood. My least favorite is "Wild Life" by Cynthia DeFelice, it was very boring and very unclimactic, and the ending wasn't the very best either. Most of the book was about the Erik and the dog running away and hunting. Its not bad but its not really a favor of the three books.

  5. My favorite book this trimester was A Long Way Gone, I enjoyed reading about Ishmael and his country in Africa. I felt like it showed war in a different perspective, where government leadership is not strong in smaller countries. Him running from all the towns and trying to survive was interesting, with him being only 13 years old and surviving a war on his own is crazy. When he had to start fighting all the drugs, he was on showed what can happen to a kid if you force them into certain events. My least favorite book was probably Night, I liked the book, but I have read a lot of books about Nazis and the Germans, and I felt like this book did not stand out compared to others I read. I felt like the book was predictable, for example when they got news their camp was about to get raided, I figured they would have to evacuate. Also, there were few characters talked about in the book, the whole time I read I felt like it was Elie and his father is all the book mentioned.

  6. My favorite book this trimester was Chinese Handcuffs. I enjoyed reading the book because of the different characters and being able to follow the storyline from different perspectives. The different characters were one of my favorite things about it, I liked how real they seemed. Something else that I liked about the book was the storyline, the author did a great job writing it and some parts seemed very real. I think that the story was partially true and Chris Crutcher did a great job telling it.

    1. I did not read that Chris Crutcher book but the one I read was good too. I thought the third book was better but I would put Running loose as a close second.

  7. My favorite book this tri had to of been Chinese Handcuffs, I liked the flow of the book and how descriptive the book was. It was a slower read at the beginning of the book but once you really got into the book it went by pretty fast. The reason I think I liked this book the best is because of Dillon, and the way he would write letters to his brother Preston who had tragically killed himself. I liked the concept of the letters because that was Dillon's way of coping with the whole situation. I would say my least favorite book had to of been Malala, I just didn't get into it as much as i have the other ones.

  8. out of the three books we had to read I feel like the third was the best because of many reasons. one reason I believe this because we could've gone anywhere to pick these books and we got to choose what genre not just vote and get a certain book we got to choose what genre we wanted what it was about and how the book was set up. I feel this book was the best because of the characters that were in it what it was about the setting and how the author pulls you in. one thing I didn't like about this book is the sad events that happened in it like the dad Dieng and making that turn the tables a little bit.

  9. My favorite book i read was running loose i loved that book because i was hooked instantly. The plot and character made it easy to understand and i loved that Chris Crutcher set the book for teenagers to read. When Becky died it took a huge plot twist for the book which engaged me to read further. My lest favorite book was A Long Way gone it was a little difficult to follow, i did like the war story and when he was off drugs and traumatized from it because it was very descriptive. But the book was not my type due to all the village jumping, it was a good read but not my favorite.

    1. I think if I were to go back and pick my first book I would have chosen Running Loose over Chinese Handcuffs. Personally I think Chinese Handcuffs is overrated.

  10. I would say that the book unbroken was my favorite because it was a war book and his life before the war and after the war.

  11. My favorite book was Night. The book Night was my first choice and I found it to be very interesting. I learned a lot about the holocaust while reading the book Night, so that helped keep me interested in the book. I liked the book because of the theme and time period. I always find it interesting to learn about World War 2. My least favorite book was the last memoir because it jumps around a lot and doesn't have a good theme. The book is hard to follow and isn't very interesting to me.

  12. I would have to say my favorite book would be Running loose, almost everything was smooth with my group discussions and the the people inside my group. if it were the second or third book we read it would've been even better because we would have already gone through the process at least once. the reason why its my favorite is because I could relate to it very easily. made me actually want to read on, it was just a page turner. also it had to deal with athletics. my least favorite book would have to of been the choice novel down to the last out. there weren't any chapters because it went day by day and he would mention the same stuff a lot. that book just wasn't for me

  13. My favorite book that I read would have to be Night. The book was very interesting and always held and intense setting. The dramatic scenes throughout the book made me feel more entitled to just keep reading. This book also informed me a lot about the Holocaust and what the Jewish community went through during those dark times. My least favorite book I read would have to be Kite-Runner, this book has a very confusing storyline and it was hard to keep up with. The main character jumps around a lot throughout the Afghanistan land which left myself lost in the settings.

  14. My favorite book this Trimester was 100% Running Loose i loved the story and the plot the climax was my favorite part just everything about it was a 10/10. I just felt like I was in the story reading it, it made me just want to read more. The group discussions were so easy to connect with and we all were on the same page. My least favorite book was Combination it was just a short and sweet novel not much to it. The setting did not leave the high school and I thought that was not fun.

  15. My favorite book was the second book I read it was called Night Because it takes me forever to read but that book was so triggering I wanted to keep reading and I didn't want to stop reading and I was sad when it was over. I did not think his dad would of have died. I thought it was so sad. My least favorite book is the last one I read and it was called The Winter Room and I did not like it because it had no point and there really was no ending it just describes his life in the winter and that was it.

  16. My favorite book of the trimester was my third book, Happy Hour. It is my favorite book because I loved how easy it was easy to read and how the setting and places that Isa and Gala went to changed quite often because it kept the story interesting since they would be in these parties and events for different reasons and with different people. It was also my favorite because Isa and Gala's characters and their friendship. I really loved seeing how Gala and Isa would fight with each other and then make up with each other and be bestfriends again. I also really loved seeing how different their personalities were because Gala was this carefree person who really did not think of her actions, and how Isa was a person who thought of her actions and was careful with the people she interacted with. My least favorite book was Malala because even though it was interesting, biography type books are not my favorite and the other 2 books were the types of books I like.

  17. My favorite book this tri was A Long Way Gone. i liked it because it wasn't a slow book like the rest. although the killings would be a lot, it was spread between the slower parts of the book. i liked the setting of the book when he was in the forest or on the beach because he explains his landscapes so visually that i can imagine myself in it. My least favorite is Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. The book was very slow for 3/4 of the book all leading to the point where her dad starts looking for her. its gets better at that point, but the book overall was too slow for me.

  18. My favvvorite book of the trimester was my third book, Where the Crawdads Sing, because that's closer to the type of book I like to read. I love the love story in the book and like that there's also a little bit of mystery too. I also love the character Tate because he treats Kya the way that all men should treat a woman and because he's genuinely cared for her all of their lives. My least favorite book this trimester was I Am Malala, it just didn't get my interest until the last few chapters, like she's an inspiring person, but I just couldn't connect as easily to her life as I could with the other books' characters' lives.

  19. my favorite book of this tri is the one i am currently reading. It is a realistic fiction book with a little bit of a mystery twisted into it. the main character, Lilly, is kind of hard to pin into a social group. she could be referred to as an introverted extrovert. the book is definitely full of surprises and keeps you on your toes but it also doesn't leave you hanging. every page is a new climax and new responses. my least favorite was probably the second book, a long way gone. i liked it but it was also kind of slow in a way. i just couldn't get hooked on it as much as i did staying fat for Sarah Byrnes and It Ends With Us.

  20. My favorite book I've read this trimester has to be Night. I don't consider myself a reader, nor do I really like reading in general, but Night managed to keep me on my toes throughout each of the hundred twenty so pages it had. What really got me to read it was because the story was very nerve-racking with death around every corner. This along with the immense amount of detail it contained throughout every page. If every person in the concentration camp were to write a novel, very few would witness the amount of events as Elie. in fact, I enjoyed this book so much I went to look for its sequel in the library. I never did end up finding the sequel so I ended up with a documentary called The Story of the Second World War. what this book lacks however is the spirit of Night, or the emotion. I honestly find it near impossible to believe I would read a better book in my life.

    ReplyDelete
  21. My favorite book this tri was definitely "Night". Because I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. It left the reader feeling something after and it just had an overall goof theme. I fell that it's also very educational because it's telling us firsthand. what happened in the camps and how awful it really was. It felt more personal coming from Elie because it experienced it so we know that it wasn't made up or dramatized.

  22. I would say my favorite book this trimester was night because i learned a lot about the holocaust and what events took place at that time. Also just getting to see it through the eyes of Elie Weisel added a lot to it because it was interesting to see his personal stories. Elie was also really descriptive in his writing which made it feel as if you were there with him for example Elie and a bunch of others were crammed in a cattle car on a train and it was a tight squeeze to fit in there and it was very dark and cold, but Elie describes it very well. My least favorite part was the war because of how gruesome it was, and Elie doesn't hold back on saying how gruesome it is to which just adds to why it's my least favorite.

  23. My favorite book i read this trimester was A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. The plot of this book and the main character, Ishmael, interested me the most about this book. It was full of action and exciting events. I also feel like i experienced another culture by reading this. I found myself not being able to put the book down because I was so engaged in what was happening. My least favorite book was Stotan by Chris Crutcher. Although this book was relatable, I wasn't hooked on this book. The plot didn't interest me the most, and i honestly did not like the ending. This class was enjoyable because I read books that i wouldn't necessarily choose out of a library, but i am glad i read them.

  24. My favorite book throughout this trimester was "Stotan!" by Chris Crutcher because it was very easy to follow and understand, but yet it held a lot more than just few teenagers on a swim team. Even though the book is about a swim team that headed to state finals, it also surrounded the topic of trauma and grief the boys went through. From abuse to the death of a close friend, Chris Crutcher effectively showed us the connection the boys had created from the traumatic events they have been through. What really caught my eye when I saw this book was how fast of a pace it was, books that are often slow and take ages to reach the main point or climax lose my interest very easily, but this book always had me eager to read more. My least favorite book throughout this trimester was "Night" by Elie Wiesel, this book is not my least favorite because of how it was written, but the topic it was written about. I loved reading this book, but also hated it at the same time because of the traumatic events Elie had to live through throughout his stay in many variations of concentration camps.

  25. My favorite book i reaad this trimester was Stotan by chris crutcher. I like the story line and how it followed a group of high schoolers and thought it was an easy book to relate to. I found the book wasnt too exciting but it also never got to stale. I thought the story of all of the friends doing their best at state and even winning a few events for their sick friend jeff was very intriguing. The book didnt seem like fiction at all and i could easily see that being a recap of someones senior year with everything they did in the book. I chose this over a long way gone and night because i found a long way gone got to stale and was a hard read to get through. Night on the other hand just wasnt that memerable of a book for me and i could easily seeing myself forget all about it in a few months while stotan provided a good life lesson being so relatable.

  26. My favorite book had to be just Mercy because its something I am interested in and had a class over this topic including a debate. I also enjoyed the characters like Walter and Brian's friendship throughout the book and getting Walters case figured out and brian also helping out with multiple cases and how he grew to be an outstanding lawyer for the people who need help in the court cases and be able to afford him becuase he is nonprofit. My least favorite book was chinese handcuffs because it didnt add up.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My favorite book was Nite. I found this book enjoyable because how it was a real event that has such a big impact on the world and i wanted more insight on what happened in the camps. Elie explained everything very well so i had a very good understanding of what happened

  28. Of the three books I read this trimester my last book, Salem's Lot by Stephen King, was my favorite. The plot of the book and the mysteries occurring within it had me hooked from the start. I enjoyed the mystery he put in it by making you wonder what was actually lurking in the night for the town. Not finding out until near the middle of the book. Another reason this was my favorite book was the way Stephen King described everything. He was extremely descriptive with what he was saying throughout the book. When one person was captured he described everything that was happening in that moment. My least favorite would have to be A Thousand Splendid Suns, although I did enjoy the book it was not my favorite of the three because I ended up getting bored of the book towards the end.

  29. My favorite book I read this trimester was the last book I read Watch me Disappear by Janelle Brown. I liked this book because it was interesting and there were a lot of surprises. As I was reading I would think oh this is going to happen but then the book would take another turn. Some characters in the book were very interesting and had surprising back stories. My least favorite book I read was A Thousand Splendid Suns the book itself was written well but the thing i disliked the most was the content as some topics and things in there were hard to read.

  30. if i had to pick one id say my favorite book would have to be night by elie wiesel because at first it shows the whole process of the german hatred and ww2 then it shows the terrible conditions that the jewish people were put through from the transportation to the camp to the camp itself elie wiesel really did a great job in adding prospective and really just putting you into the book through the tough situations. i also liked this book because it shows how strong the jews had to be with little to no food very minimal humane conditions. i give credit to elie for not only going through this but also being able to relive his experiances to tell his story

  31. My current book "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey has been my absolute favorite. A combination of the dialogue, the format in which it is written, and the brutal honesty of Frey's writing makes it an enjoyable rollercoaster. The main character who also happens to be the author is relatable and you can't help but to empathize with him as the story goes on. Frey does a great job at putting you in his shoes as he goes on a journey to find hope and strength. My least favorite book this tri has been "I Am Malala." It was empowering and insightful, but it never really spoke to me. I enjoy books that I can relate to, because they leave an impact on me and make me feel understood.

  32. My favorite book I read this trimester was by far The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. It just kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I could not stop reading it. I love mystery books and this one was right up my alley. The book is about a lady named Alecia who murders her husband and then goes silent, never to speak again... or so it's thought. A therapist named Theo is new to the ward that Alecia is admitted to. Theo is a therapist and he is determined to make Alecia speak. The book jumps from Theo narrating to an excerpt of Alecia's diary. Theo's wife is having an affair and Theo wants to get to the bottom of it. Theo follows the man his wife is hooking up with home and it turns out it's Alecia's husband and Theo threatens them and Alecia finds out about the affair and shoots her husband in the head. Theo finally gets Alecia to talk not knowing that she recognizes him as that man from the night she killed her husband Gabriel. Theo figures out she recognizes him and injects her with morphine and she is in a coma. The police find her diary and see that Theo was the one who did this to her and the story ends. There is much more to it but that is the main summary. I like the book because it reminds me of a true crime show. Surely from that summary, there are many questions but I also had questions reading this book. It all came together in the end but it was a weird sequence of events and is hard to explain to someone who hasnt read it. I highly reccomend it.

  33. My favorite book I read this year was my personal novel. Petey by Ben Mikalsen kept me engaged the whole time. It is really easy to read when you enjoy what you are reading. The whole book was based around the man named Petey, Petey has cebral palsy and he was falsely diagnosed at a young age. He was treated wrong and sent to an insane alyssum. The book follows peteys thoughts so you can really understand his thought process through out the book. Petey is constantly questioning his purpose in life. Eventually Petey realizes that his purpose on Earth is to give joy to others. At the end of the book during peteys death he finally feels accomplished with what he done in life. The reason I liked this book sop much is because it starts with a man that is lost, lonely, and scared but finishes with a man who is content.

  34. Out of the three books my third book was the best because I felt more connected with the main character instead of the two other books who's main characters went through life changing struggles. I read "A Street Cat Named Bob" by James Bowen, and its about James's life story about how he was struggling with homelessness and trying to find money and food to live when he finds a stray cat in his apartment building who was beat up and looked tattered. The Story talks about how James found a new reason to his life and how he needed to change to not only better himself but for Bob as well. The reason I liked this book is that you got to see the points where James's life got better and how much he cared for Bob.

  36. A thousand splendid suns was the second book I read this trimester and by far my favorite. I loved the way the author wrote the book split into 2 people's perspectives. The story of the book is also inspiring and so good the book is hard to put down. I also like how the book is incorporated with history as well as raising awareness for the oppression of women in Afghanistan. My least favorite book I read this trimester was Staying fat For Sarah Byrnes. Its not that it is a bad book I just feel like the story isnt something I would generally be interested in reading. At times while reading this book I caught myself bored and sometimes not taking in the information as for A Thousand Splendid Suns was the complete oppisote.

  37. out of all three book my favorite was the last one reminders of him by colleen hoover. this was my favorite because it was easy to read. it was a long book, but the plot and layout of the book flowed very smooth and made it very easy for me to finish. the plot kept you holding on just enough to not want to put down and I enjoy when books are like that. I also like it when books flow smoothly into the next thing and I believe have more than one point of view of the book is a good way to do that and that's how this book is. i would recommend this book to anyone interested.

  38. Out of the three books, my favorite was the last one, The Forgotten 500. This book was absolutely loaded with information and action scenes which made for an awesome read. The characters interacting with the Chetniks, and the plot was awesome. The way Gregory described the scenes in this book made me feel like I was in the book. He really described the C-47 evacuation planes very well. I highly recommend this book to anyone that's interested on the past wars or who loves action in general. It is a longer read but it's so worth it. Honestly after reading all three books, I don't have a least favorite. They all interested me in way that made me like them all. Each with different storylines and plots made it enjoyable.

  39. Of the three books I chose to read, The Green Mile was my favorite. I loved this book because of how Steven King was able to describe things just so, I could understand them and envision it with ease. It also shows how people can have different sides to them. Delacroix was this little Frenchman that was skittish and just wanted to be happy. He was perfectly content with just him and his mouse within the time he spent on E Block behind the mask of his murders. With Coffey he was just pure. He was wrongly accused while he was trying to do the right thing at the wrong time. He had a special gift and he tried to use it for good, it just took so much from him and wore him out so much that his death is sort of like a release for him. Coffey is no longer lonely and afraid, now he is free from the evil in the world. Then there are people like Wild Bill that cannot be helped. They just get a high from making ciaos and causing as much pain as they can to people who have done nothing wrong.

  40. My favorite book that I read this trimester out of my three books would have to be the third, Rangers Apprentice. It is my favorite out of the three I read because I very much enjoy fantasy books like it and the other two books I read I did not enjoy reading. Out of the three books I read this one felt like the only book that I wasn't forced to read. The author also did a very good job at describing the characters and really painting a picture in my mind of the scenes even during action parts of the book.

  41. My favorite book that I read this trimester was Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. This was my favorite novel because of the character development and the story line. With this book, I was kept entertained for the entire time fo reading it and wanted to read more and more. I also enjpyed the conflicts because they were relatable to young adults. My least favorite was my choice book, Text for You. This was my least favorite because the plot line was very slow paced and did not keep me wanting to read more. When I got over half way through the book was when I was actually enjoying the plot line, before then, the story wasa boring and getting no where.

  42. Out all three of the books I read throughout this trimester the one I enjoyed the most was the first book I read Running Loose. I enjoyed this book a lot because I related it a lot to my life. The characters were in high school, and the main character suffered a very tragic loss of his girlfriend that he loved. I relate it to my life because I am also just trying to get through high school like them and I also have lost a very close friend in a similar way as the book.

  43. My7 favorite book of the trimester was my choice novel because it was the most relatable for me. I understood the characters and the struggles as a teenager in the LGBT community. I mostly related with the main character because he feels inferior to his best friends and lives with a homophobic family member.
My least favorite book would have to be my Chris Crutcher novel simply because it did not measure up to the second book and was not as personalized as the third. There is honestly nothing I can say I did not enjoy about the first novel either.
I am confident that I picked all the right books this trimester.

  44. My favorite book from this trimester was the third one Dear John. This was my favorite because it was a fast read but also the most interesting. Also, enjoyed it because I got to pick it so I knew that I would enjoy it. I felt engaged in the book and there was always something going on. It kept you thinking but you also knew what was going on because it wasn't confusing. One of my other books that I read was confusing at times so I enjoyed knowing what was going on at all times.

  45. My favorite book this trimester was my third book "It ends with us." This book was my favorite because it was enjoyable and fun to read. The way Collen Hoover the author wrote this novel was so descriptive and smooth. There were never times I was stuck or confused about what i just read. The romance and traumatic events were told verry well. The book I disliked the most was Staying fat for Sarah Barnes because it was confusing, and I never enjoyed it

My least favorite had my second book as to me it was confusing in parts and their were several parts of the cultural references that I did not understand.

  47. All three books I read this year, were good but my favorite was A long way gone. I love the plot line that goes with the story. It was never boring. There was something new happening all the time. Also, it was based on a real story, so I got to learn what was happening back then. The main character grew a lot throughout the book and changed quite a bit. He never changed in a bad way, only ways of improvement in order to live. I usually don't like book with fighting but this one was more than just fighting. There was war but it was also about survival and what he went through.

  48. All of the books i read were good but I think A Long Way Gone was my favorite because it was an interesting read of a culture that I had no clue about. War books are always interesting for me so to see on in the perspective of a kid really through me off guard in a good way. All the characters, traditions, and all the other things that were brought up in the book about his culture was very interesting to learn about. I don't think i disliked any of the books i read they were all different and nice to read

  49. My favorite book that I read was A Long Way Gone. It was my favorite because I liked reading about the different culture. I think I enjoyed this book so much because of the conflict and the war. My least favorite book was actually my choice book in Facing The Giants. I didn't like the novel all too much because the story itself is super predictable.
