I chose the book The Silent Patient. I chose this book because I have had it at home and haven't had the chance to read it yet. It was commonly recommended to me as well, so I have been looking forward to reading it. I really like this book so far. It is a very quick read even though its 300+ pages, its super interesting, I am able to read 20-30 pages in one class period. The book started off with why Alecia (the silent patient) became how she is. She killed her husband out of no where and attempted suicide directly after. Since then, she wont speak. I am determined to know why. The narrator is a psychotherapist invested in being the one to make her finally speak.
ReplyDeleteI have read this book and it is amazing. I also decided to read it because it was very popular and the things I heard about it seemed really interesting. Just like you, I was able to read a bunch in one sitting because it just kept getting better and better. As I read I tried to put the pieces together as well and in the end I was shocked.
DeleteThis book sounds very interesting.
DeleteWho is the author? The book seems very wierd and i could see how you could get hooked on it so easily.
DeleteA few years ago I was recommended this book and I have still not gotten around to reading it. Reading your description of the storyline makes me want to add this book to my "to read" list.
Deletethis book sounds very interesting. seems like alot of plot twist like my book.
DeleteThis book sounds interesting and seems like you can get hooked into very easily. I have heard of it but have not gotten the chance to read it.
DeleteI chose the book Text for You by Sofie Cramer. I chose this book because I had just bought it about 2 weeks ago and because it seemed like a good choice for my last high school book. The process of finding my book was by seeing the cover at BAM in the mall. My initial thoughts of the book are that it is very slow paced and kind of boring. My book is about a woman, Clara, who's fiance dies in a tragic accident. She one day decides to text his old number and give him updates on how her life has been. Then there is Sven, I do not know much about him yet other than he works in some job. This book is also set in Germany some where. I do not think I am hooked on this book although I'm about 40 pages in already.
ReplyDeleteI have never read this book but I think I have heard of it. The plot seems like it could be interesting, but I can imagine there would also be some really slow spots. I think that the book being set in Germany would be kind of interesting, but also confusing because it is a culture we do not know much about.
DeleteMy book, Happy Hour, is kind of has the same start because it has started out really slow because it has followed Isa and Gala arriving to New York and getting settled in, and then them going to different parties every night. I think that both are books are kind of of the same since they are starting out slow.
Deletemy book is kinda like that because my main character tells dffierent storys slowly and its really hard to pay attention sometimes
DeleteI chose the book "A Street Cat Named Bob" By James Bowen. I chose this book because I read the inside and thought the story seemed interesting. My initial thoughts of the story are that it is very good even only 60 pages in. The book starts talking about how James found bob and how poor bob looked physically. It then talks about how James took care of Bob and how he is healing. I would say that I'm sort of hooked on the book because its an interesting story and I don't enjoy reading often.

DeleteYour book sounds different and will be interesting to see how you like it.
DeleteYour book sounds like a growth of being poor to be rich.
Deletesounds like an interesting book i would like to know what you learn from it
DeleteI have read that book before it is very good, it tends to pull at your heart strings though.
DeleteI chose the book Regretting You by Colleen Hoover. I chose this book because I was gifted a different book by Colleen Hoover for Christmas. I really liked that book so I wanted to read another one by the same author, so a friend is lending me this one to read. So far I really like the book. It is about a girl who got pregnant when she was a teen, and it fast forwards to the future of when the girl is older and her daughter is now a teen. There are a few surprises that I did not see coming, such as the car accident.
ReplyDeleteColleen Hoover is such a great book! Let me know how this book goes!
Deletei also chose my book for a similar reason, i have read a few book by her and i like her writing so i chose to read another. there is also some plot twists in my book that i definitly didnt see coming.
DeleteI love Colleen Hoover's books, this seems really interesting. A person in my group is also reading a book by her and it seemed really good. Her book also has a car accident in it as a part of the plot, its called "Reminders of Him."
DeleteI have not gotten a chance to read any of her books yet, but I know everyone seems to love all of her books. I would like to know how this book goes that way I have a good idea and can be my next book choice.
DeleteI chose the book Night by Elie Wiesel. The reason I chose this book was because I heard people talking about it in book number two when they choose it. I read A long Way Gone and liked it but was really slow, so when I read the back of Night, it sounded similar but much faster of a pace. When I found out we got to choose our last book I knew I wanted to read Night because it was the first book on my list for book number two but did not get it. The start of my book has been good, I meet Eleizers family and the town they live in, one night the Nazis raid their town and take all the Jews. Eliezer dad is well known in their town and high up on the rank.
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking about reading the book night.
DeleteMe to. I chose night for a lot of the same reasons. So far i like it a lot.
DeleteI loved the book Night! Just pay attention to each breaking part because it sort of jumps around.
DeleteI also read a long way gone i was thinking of reading this
DeleteI read Night for book two and I agree with your statement of the novel being fast paced. Night definitely will keep the readers hooked as Elie Wiesel takes you through his traumatic experience. I hope you enjoy this novel as much as everyone else who has read it so far.
Deletei read the book night for book number two, but if i wouldn't have i think i would have chose it for this book , i enjoyed the book very much.
DeleteI would of read the sequel to Night if I found it in the library, although instead other World War II books are pretty good as well because they share a lot of the same details.
DeleteThe book I chose was City 1 by Gregg Rosenblum. The reason I chose this book is because when I read of it I really enjoyed it because it has a lot of action. I didn't really have a process in picking a book I just looked through the library until and read a little bit of books then picked the one I enjoyed the best. The reason I chose this book is because I feel that I will enjoy it. My first thoughts on the book is that it is a little confusing at first because it introduces many characters and It is hard to know who is talking. The book starts off with a three characters Clay, Grenell, and Kevin and Kevin was being held hostage by the other two and they were trying to reach a campsite. I wouldn't say I am hooked on this book just yet because not much had happened but I do enjoy it right now.
ReplyDeleteFast pace books are really good and a book I might like.
DeleteSeems like a exciting book
DeleteSeems like a very interesting book, hopefully it gets better the further you go.
DeleteThis book reminds me of breaking bad
DeleteThe book i chose to read is Night by Elie Wiesel. I chose to read this book because it was a previous option that i did not get but really wanted to read. I was interested by the WW2 stuff in the book and wanted to read his experience after mrs Broadbent said it was a hard read to get through. So far i really like the book and am very interested in it. I love to read about WW2 so this book is no challenge for me. The beginning is very interesting starting out normal and then quickly turning into hell. Moved into ghettos and on a train to auschwitz the next day.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't get Night so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
DeleteI chose The Body by Steven king. I chose this book because my mom reads Steven King and it seemed interesting. Its a very slow book so far and not much has happened recently. The book is about some boys that go to try and find the body of a kid that got lost in the woods because they were bored. I didn't get hooked from this beginning because it takes a while to introduce the characters and there isn't much going on in between.
ReplyDeletethe book sounds spooky and mystery.
DeleteWhy are the kids after the body?
Deletethis book sounds like a book for me I love mystery and discovery books and it sounds like the movie series In The Dark.
Deleteso far in my book its also pretty slow to introducing the characters. but you can easily tell whos going to be more relevant in my story with how the author describes everyone. takes much longer with specific people
DeleteThis book is interesting and what are the kids name and my book is about a high school student who are having problems.
DeleteI've read that book before, it's really good. Personally I think it's one of Stephen King's better books, not better than IT or the Shining but it's pretty similar. My book wasn't as slow with introducing the characters, mainly because you only need to know a few, but that can be frustarting when a book takes a while to introduce everyone. If you like this book then I would also suggest the book The Outsider by Stephen King.
DeleteI am also reading Stephen king, i am excited to read his style and tone
Deletei feel like my book is the same considering it started out slow and is deep into context.
DeleteThe book I chose was "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks, I chose it because I've already seen the movie, so I was excited to read the book. I love to read romance novels, but this one in particular is a sad romance. The starting pages talk about both of the lovers and their interests.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen the movie, but I think it is cool that you chose the book because you already saw the movie. I think that is a smart choice.
DeleteI've heard of the movie "The Notebook" but never watched it. But that's how I chose my book was because it's a movie that I want to see.
DeleteI have heard of that movie and the author. I have heard he has written good books but because he writes mostly romance I have read any of his books I do not normally find that topic interesting to read about.
DeleteThe book I chose "Wildlife" BY Cynthia Defelice. I chose it because it look very interesting and had go description what the book is about.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wildlife about?
Deleteyeah that was and other reason I chose The Winter Room was because there is alot of family talk in it.
DeleteWhat intrigued you from the description for you wanting to read it?
Deletethis is one of my favorite books i always liked this book!
DeleteThe book The Last Templar it is about how the FBI has an entire chase on a group templars that stole from a museum. But also an archeologist is also on the case to find out what one of the knights were after. I chose this book because I like templar knights and see that it was a modern day one I was interested in it. I do really like this book it didn't start slow it went right to it.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this book before, but it sounds interesting. It is also interesting to me how you chose the book. I might give this book a read some day.
DeleteI heard this was a good book and I did think about reading it but the book I'm reading unbroken grabbed my attention more.
Deletesounds interesting

DeleteThe book that I chose was Night. The reason that I picked this novel was because it was my first option for the last choice book and it also involves the world war and what actually happened during them dark times. In Night, the main character Elie faces many mental and physical challenges when he comes to finding out his race is being extinctic. His journey when passing through the concentration camps interest me as he explains the drastic events occurring in Auschwitz. I'm glad to pick a book with good flow and a interesting read.
ReplyDeletemy book Down to the Last Out deals with my character getting physically and mentally hurt by other people as well. biddy Owens the main character of my book constantly getting verbally harassed just because of the way he looks. our books seem similar in the way they both mention discrimination
Deleteso I had chosen the book "Down to the Last Out" and I had picked this book mainly because it deals with athletics and so far just trying to show us what it was like being a black baseball player in the late 1940's. the only requirements for my choice novel is I just wanted it to be dealing athletics so i chose this one just based off the cover. so far the book has been pretty enjoyable, just explaining the day to day as biddy Owens (the main character) the book has not necessarily hooked yet but there is a lot of the book left to get me intrigued.
ReplyDeletewe talked about this yesterday sounds like a good sports book
DeleteI choose the book the winter room by Gary Paulsen and I chose this book because I was looking for a book that kept leading you on and so Madison had this book and said this book the whole time you read it makes you keep thinking like what's he going to do next? Or what room next is he going to make? The specific reason I chose this was I just wanted it to keep me intrigued and make me want to keep reading. My thoughts on this book are well I think it is one of those books that at first it is really slow and then as you get into it more it gets faster as the book goes on. Like I said it starts really slow and I am not hooked yet but I think I need to get more in the book to get hooked in the book. When responding to other blogs, if you have read the book, share your thoughts about it without giving away too much.
ReplyDeleteI feel like my book Watch me Disappear is similar. While reading I am continuously thinking where is the author taking this book because as she wrote it's vague beginning then throws a surprise twist in we learn more about certain characters.
DeleteI chose the book, "Salem's Lot" by Stephen King. I chose it because it was one of the books I had at home and I have been wanting to read it for a while now. I did not really go through much of a process to choose this book because I knew that I wanted to read it before hand. In the beginning of the book it was confusing there was no plot for a bit, but after one kid went missing then things started to happen and it began to make more sense to me. The book, after it made more sense, got me hooked to the point where I want to continue reading, but I have to stop myself.
ReplyDeletei haven't heard of the book but it sounds like a book I would enjoy reading
Deletemy new book is great american hunting stories i chose this book because hunting is something actually appealing to me rather than someones life problems. when i walked in the libary i saw this book and theres a guy hunting on the cover and i was like hmm looks intersting so i grabbed it and ive enjoyed it so far the first story was about teddy rosevelt hunting bears and how hes tracked them from 5 miles out. so far i really like this book.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you like this book knowing you this would be a great choice for you. Maybe something you would actually enjoying reading.
DeleteI chose the book "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. I chose it because I had read the previous 5 books in the Harry Potter series and wanted to get closer to finishing all the Harry Potter books. My process for choosing this was simple: I was interested in reading the book since I finished the 5th book and saw this as an opportunity to do so. The book begins with a conversation between the Prime Minister of the UK and the Minister of Magic. The 3rd chapter is when it begins to talk directly about Harry. I want to continue to read this book because, although it hasn't necessarily hooked me yet seeing as the beginning is slow, I know from the other books I've read that it will get good and exciting near the middle and end.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing book and I think you'll really enjoy it! I've read the series a total of nine times and never regretted it, as every book has its own twist and it hooks every time.
DeleteWhile I have not read the books I have seen the movies and that one of the series is a good one. I hope you enjoy it and wish you luck in finishing the book in time.
Deletei am reading reminders of him by colleen hoover. i chose this book because i have been wanting to read it for a while and a lot of people have told me it was a good read. the book is about a women named Kenna. she has just gotten out of prison for involuntary manslaughter of her boyfriend scotty. before she goes to prison, she finds out she is pregnant with Scotty's child, and when she gets out she wants to fight for her child back, but things don't seem to be going as planned. so far i am very interested to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteI am reading "the silent patient" the main character also kills her husband and i am really interested to see why because she wont talk to anyone about it.
Deletenoami's book sounds a lot like staying fat for sarah byrnes. something happens to her and she goes mute for a long time and refuses to tell anyone what happened.
DeleteI am reading Combination by Elias Carr it is a mystery book where there are two main characters Dante football all-star, Miranda really smart with a 4.0 GPA. The book reminds me a lot of stranger things that is what really drew me toward it and I have always loved mystery books every sense i was a kid it just keeps me entertained. I would defiantly say I am hooked.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds interesting i would relate this book to stranger things as well .
DeleteI choose Happy Hour by Marlowe Granados. I found about this book from a YouTube video and it sounded like a good book. I chose this book as my third book because I wanted a book that was short enough and an enjoyable easy read. Which so far it has been what I thought that it would be. Before I read it, I read the description and the book has been the same thing that the description said. Throughout the book so far, Isa and Gala have just gone to different events/parties and met all different kinds of people. It has started off slow because they basically do the same thing just with different people, but I am hooked because of how all these parties and life lessons that Isa and Gala learn will come together in the end and potentially develop their characters.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Night where Elie is explaining his story threw aushuitz. I choose this book because i have always had a love for autobiography's and real life story's. I had heard a lot of good things about this book and that it is a good read. The book starts off as these jews having a normal life until the Hungarian police orders all jews come out with a big a lie and false hope of what was to come. I heard the start was boring but i was hooked instantly. Yesterday read over half the book because i kept wanting to read more. The book is very good and it is a very good read. This is a book i would recommend to others.
ReplyDeleteThe start to this book sounds exciting but sad, i think i would be interested to read this.
DeleteThis book sounds very interesting because it is all through the authors perspective on how he survived the Holocaust
DeleteI chose the book Where the Crawdads Sing. I chose this book because I've seen ads for it in the movie theater previews and I really wanted to watch it, and then I saw that my mom had the book so I asked to borrow it. Right away the book hooked me because it started at a crime scene where they're trying to figure out how this guy could possibly be dead and then shifts to a different character's perspective but it's in the past. And the thing I like aboout this book is that I know that these charcacters are linked but you don't know yet
ReplyDeletepersonally, i've seen the movie on this book and read it. it is one of my favorites. this book has a lot of twist and turns leaving you guessing and trying to put the pieces together.
DeleteThis book already sounds very interesting. I hope that the movie is as good as the book.
DeleteI have always wanted to read this book, so I have avoided watching the movie, but I hope to read it over the summer. You'll have to let me know if it's a good read. I have also seen many ads for the movie, but I've still managed to avoid it. I am excited to read this book this summer just hearing about the way it starts. Nothing like a death to pull the reader in.
DeleteI have seen the movie and if it is anything like it you will most likely enjoy this book.
Deletei am reading the book It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. it is about a girl named lily who is just stepping into her new life when the past catches up with her, putting her life on hold and leaving unanswered questions. i chose this book because i have read Hoover's other books and really like them. so far the beginning of the book was a little confusing by jumping back and fourth from different timelines but as you read more it all comes together and makes sense. colleen hoover has a way of grasping your attention to the point where i can't put the book down. i could read this book in one sitting.
ReplyDeleteI chose to read the book Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, where the main character is Andy Dufresne, an inmate at Shawshank convicted of murder. After watching the movie of this story, I was interested in reading to get to know more about the characters. So far, Andy has passed his time carving a polishing rocks using the tools he gets from Red, the narrator. Red is the guy at Shawshank who can get things, which he sells to other convicts. I am excited to see where the story leads and how these characters' friendship develops.

ReplyDeleteMy book I am reading is titled The Story of the Second World War. after reading night i liked the topic of World War II because its always interesting and its incredible that these things actually happened in human history, therefore mi reading another World War II book, but this time more generally about the war rather than the perspective of the author. This book is extremely good and is probably the most accurate "documentary" besides Night I have read. I am very glad to have chosen this book and would recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI also like books about the early wars. I feel like I would definitely enjoy this book with the war perspective of it.
DeleteThe book I chose is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Its about an Olympic runner who joined WWII and later gets lost at sea when his plane crashes. I chose this book because I started reading it but never finished it. The start of this book is talking about Louie Zamperini's childhood and how he became an Olympic runner.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting. I like war books so this might be one I would like.
DeleteThis book sounds interesting. War books are very good and this sounds like a unique story.
DeleteIn my book Night it also talks a lot about ww2 and it is very interesting to see the solders perspective compared to the jews and how it all actually was perceved by both sides.
DeleteI chose the book Silent Patient, Ms. Reuter helped me pick it out and told me that it is a really good read. Silent Patient is 300+ pages, so far what I have read is pretty interesting. Silent Patient is about a woman named Alicia Berenson who one day when her husband Gabriel Berenson came home from work and she shot him 5 times in the face. Ever since that day, she refuses to talk to anyone, even her own family. A Criminal Psychotherapist is captivated by Alicia's story and is determined to get her to talk again.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very fast paced and interesting.
DeleteI really believe war is always a good topic to read about because at least something is guaranteed to happen.
ReplyDeletei choose the book four dead queens. it was the first book i picked up and it seemed very interesting. the cover got me hooked as its a picture of four crowns and blood. there is alot of betrayal and you never know what is going to happen. this book is about a girl named keralie who finds out after eating the comm chip that all four queens will die from a burtal death. meanwhile in the castle the first queen died and now a investigation started. the inspector believes it one of the other queens. also just alot of secrets and forbidden love. if you like plot twist and murder this a good book for you.
ReplyDeletemy book got dark right in the beginning and i was shocked i didnt it expected it to happen so fast
Deletewar is a great topic. it sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book The Forgotten 500 because books about war and action really interest me. I like when the book starts off fast and continues to provide action all throughout the rest of the book. The process was trying to find a war book that took place around World War II or World War I. My initial thoughts on the book is great. It kicked off really fast and started the action within the first couple pages. It starts off with a guy named Clare Musgrove and a few other American soldiers trapped in Yugoslavia. They were on a mission and ended up trapped in a German territory. The American soldiers met up with other people who spoke broken English in which they stated there were over 200 more soldiers that were trapped over a hill on the other side of the village. They met up with the other soldiers and were arranging for a plane to pick them up. They knew if they took multiple planes in, the nazis would be alerted and could be bombed or shot, so they had to proceed with caution. Overall, this is a great start.
ReplyDeleteThe book i chose is Varient by Robinson Wells. I chose this book because i had heard about it a while ago so I thought i would read it now to see what it's about. It starts off with Benson explaining how he's always been in several foster homes throughout his life and also how going to this new school he got accepted into is going to give him a fresh start on his life. Benson soon realizes that this school, Maxfield Academy, isnt normal and is far from what he expected it to be. This book is a pretty fast read for how long it is and is a pretty good book so far
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this book previously and wanted to read it, but unfortunately never gotten around to it. I'm interested to hear more about it through our group discussions next week.
DeleteI have heard of this book, but never had gotten the chance to read it myself, I hope the book stays as good as it is right now.
DeleteRussell Miller
ReplyDeleteI chose the book Dragonwatch: Rise of the Dragon King by Brandon Mull. I chose this book because it is in middle of the series that I am currently working through on my own time. It is the second book in the Dragonwatch series, which is a sequel to another series, Fablehaven, that I've read. The book starts off with the two main characters, Seth and Kendra Sorenson, pretty much getting thrown into a new problem immediately after solving the first, which was stopping the dragon king, Celebrant, from escaping the dragon sanctuary that he's being kept in, in the first book of the Dragonwatch series. The new problem is that Seth and Kendra, as the 'caretakers' of the sanctuary, are required to attend a feast that Celebrant set up, as it's in a contract, but it's obviously a trap so they have to figure out how to attend the feast, but still make it out alive. I am very hooked so far, and cannot wait to see what happens.
I've also chosen my book because it is in a series that I've been reading. When deciding to read a new book I always find myself returning to a series I haven't yet finished.
Deletesounds like a good book, the series is not my thing but i know that lots of people like those things
DeleteMy book is also an adventure book like yours and I'm enjoying reading it right now.
Deletei choose the book night because it was the book i wanted earlier in the months but i didnt get picked for this so i decided to read it this time and i heard that is a pretty good book so i wanted to see my self so far im very interested in the book so far now cant wait to get into it more
ReplyDeleteWhile I have not read the book and am not reading it now, I agree that I have heard that it is good so I hope you enjoy reading it.
DeleteI choose the book Dear John by Nicholas Sparks because I have read other books so I figured this would be a good one. I instantly got hooked to this book and I cannot stop reading it. I figured this would be a great book to end the school year with. This is about a high school graduate John, that does not want to go to college, so he ends up joining the army. When he gets back home, he meets this girl on the beach, and they instantly feel a connection and that they have known each other for a long time. If you like a little romance book, this is a great book, and I would recommend it. Nicholas Sparks is a great author, and I am enjoying this book a lot. This is also a fast read for 330 pages.
ReplyDeleteIs this book as good as the other ones in the series?
DeleteThe book I chose to read is The Giver by Lois Lowry. I chose to read this book because I have seen the movie and have herd that the book was just as good. With me finding this I had the book at my house so that made it easier to make the choose of reading the book. The book so far has been mostly worldbuilding and working up to the main part of the book. I look forward to keep reading the book.
ReplyDeleteI also would like to read the book because the movie was really good.
Deletethe book I decided to choose is called the crossover by Kwane alexander the first time i picked this book up I thought it was interesting it looked easy and it was about sports and that's exactly what i wanted after I read this book for a little bit I was unable to stop reading it has about 237 pages and this book is about two twins taking after their dad in the basketball life trying to get a ring just like their dad.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and the reason why I chose this book was because it was about something that I'm passionate about how we should ban the Death Penalty. And the book is and has very real details on how it was for a victom who did go through that.
ReplyDeleteIn my book Night it also talks about death penalty but more loosly with how the nazis would give it without a 2nd thought. Killing sommeone in cold blood will always be bad but in your book they probably show more ways it is practical.
DeleteI have read Just Mercy, and, I must warn you, be prepared to cry. The book tackles many major world issues and it does not tread lightly.
DeleteThe book i chose to read for my last book is night. I decided to pick this book bacause everyone who read it last book said it was short and easy. My first impression of this book is that it is cool to see how the main character slowly loses himself throughout the story. He slowly sees himself as less than human just because they treat them so badly. It is sad but it really shows what jews had gone through and all the little moments of hope.
ReplyDeleteI also chose my book because it wasn't to long and an easy read.
DeleteI've read this book and I agree, it's interesting to see how Elise changes throughout the book and how his thoughts on things change.
DeleteI have also read this book and I believe it is the main thing that makes you realize just how bad the holocausts was
Deletei agree, i wanted a shorter book so i didnt have so much pressure at the end of the year
DeleteThe book I choose for my last book is called Rangers Apprentice. I picked this book because it isn't very long and I like adventure books like it. My first impression of the book was that it was easy to read and understand. The book doesn't have me hook yet but as I continue to read it might.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this book, but I also chose my book because it was a shorter read and I would be able to finish it by the due date.
DeleteThe book I am reading is Petey by Ben Mikaelsen. I choose this book because the cover looked appealing and I just needed a book to read. So far the book is very interesting. The book follows a man named Petey. Petey has a disability called cebral palsy. Peteys joints are all backwards and his face is severely deformed. He cant talk normally or control his legs and arms however, he can take in information like a normal human. The doctors don't know this though so he is classified as retarded and sent to an insane asylum. Peteys life turns very boring but he still finds joy in the small things.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds really interesting especially because he has a disability that isn't common and it probably talks about it in detail. I also think it is interesting that they just sent him to an insane asylum instead of his family taking care of him or putting him in a home that specializes in that.
DeleteThe book I chose to read for my last book is the Lost Memoir. I picked this book because I wanted to read something I would enjoy, and I find sports books enjoying to read. The book is also kind of short so I will be able to get it read by the due date. The book hooked me from the start because it talked about what baseball used to be like back in the day and some people didn't even have gloves to play with.
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting. I might have to check this book out
DeleteThe book I chose for our choice book was Night, the reason I picked this book was because it was originally my favorite book out of the five we were given to choose from a few weeks ago. The book Night starts off with Jews being neglected and not being seen as human. In the beginning Jews are seen as outlaws, but no one has branched far enough as to kill them because of it. But that does not last for long when Hitler gains more power. The first few pages of this book got me hooked, but not in a good way. The book has barely any happiness, all there is to it is seeing who dies next, or which family gets split up.
ReplyDeleteThis book was also one of my top picks from the last time we picked the books and I didn't get to read it. The book sounds like it starts you off with something that hooks you and makes you want to keep reading.
DeleteI also had this book has my first pick but I didn't get it. I wanted to read it to learn more about everything that happened during that time in a deeper way, which I think reading from a person's perspective would do that. Just from what I was introduced to from the description I would also get hooked but not in a good way.
DeleteI really enjoyed this book, it was very intriguing and provided a lot of details that Jewish when through during the concentration camps.
Deletei really liked this book it really grabs the readers attention by the authors visuals that he portrays
DeleteThe book that I am reading is called Burned by Ellen Hopkin. The main character is Pattyn Von Stratten, she is the oldest child of seven girls. Pattyn grew up in the Morman church but has an abusive and alcoholic father. Drinking alcohol is not allowed when you are a Morman, and she starts to question her belief in the Morman church. Pattyn starts reading books that aren't approved by the church and she starts to question the preacher about what he is preaching. I choose this book because I read a lot of Ellen Hopkins books and I always enjoy them as I am reading them.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this book and in the past have been interested in reading it.
DeleteI choose the book Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown. It follows Olivia and how she handles the disappearance of her mother. When the book starts it is Olive at school and she has a vision which we the learn it is about a year after her mother went missing and was presumed dead. She is convinced her mother is still alive but when she tells her father he puts it off as grief as he is writing a book to cope with the lost and he is trying to get the life insurance money as they have become broke. I discovered this book last year when trying to decide on a read aloud book in bobcat time. I though it sounded interesting and I finally got time to read it so that's why I choose this book.
ReplyDeleteThe book i chose is The Prank by Ashley Rae Harris. I chose this book because when i first seen it, it seemed interesting and funny. The book so far is pretty basic right now. Not a lot happening in the begining, just getting to know everyone and finding out a little about the book. i can tell the book will be getting juicy pretty quick here.
ReplyDeletei choose the book brother band by john Flanagan out of chance i seen the cover in the library and it looked good it looked like a fun read unlike the books read previously being more dark and serious vs happy and uplifting the book is about a group of outcasts in there own home town not fitting in witch is a vary good way to start a book and i believe so far that others should read it to
ReplyDeletei feel that sports and war are vary similar things and think the book would be good by the way he could tie them together
ReplyDeleteI chose the book Night because it was one of my top picks for our last novel. I like history and I like how the book is about a true story and all of the events really happened. It also helps you connect and better understand the history of the holocaust and the terrible things that happened that you don't learn about in History class
ReplyDeleteI just read Night and it is a super good book that keeps your attention the whole time.
Deletei also just read the book and its based-on survival like the book im reading now it is a really good book and its suspenseful
DeleteI also chose that book! I was curious to see what he went through when he was there. After getting about halfway through it, I would suggest that people who do read this book, know what you're getting yourself into. This is a kind of book that I think everyone should read in their lifetime.
DeleteMy book is called "We Are Lost and Found" and I chose it because it reflects the challenges that queer people faced during the aids epidemic, which is a topic that I find important to educate others about. I bought my book at BAM a few weeks ago and it was a good fit for this class as we discuss issues of minorities and hardships. My initial thoughts on the book are simple: it is relatable for me and that draws me in. I was hooked from the start. It starts by introducing the reader to three main characters--best friends Michael, Becky, and James who are trying to navigate high school and the world in general during the AIDS epidemic. Basically, the book is good so far and I am fascinated by what the world really thought of the AIDS epidemic at the time.
ReplyDeleteI choose the book Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I choose this book because I had it laying on my dresser and I have not had the time to read it so, I decided to I would go ahead and read this book for this class. So far the book starts out with Tate being the main character moving into her brothers apartment for clinicals in San Francisco. She arrives at the apartment building and encounters a man hovering her brothers apartment door. Resulting for Tate to not have a way inside the apartment. Currently I am hooked it is interesting because the guy hoovering over the door is her brothers neighbor also his good friend.
ReplyDeleteI chose to read the book Facing The Giants written by Eric Wilson. I actually chose this book because of the movie. I saw the movie a couple years ago and loved it so i figured the book would be just as good. The book starts off in the midst of one of the football games and I am not far enough into the book to suggest it to anybody.
ReplyDeleteI choose to read Varity by colleen hoover. I have read her books before and I know a bunch of people talk about this one specifically so I thought it would be a good book to read. I am just a little ways into it and so far it seems like a good book that has a lot of unknowns with it. Lowen is the girl who is the main character and she is struggling to get back on her feet after months of caregiving to her mother. But is set with a battle to finish writing for a famous author. I hope to read more and earn more about her personally and how she's going to fact the battle with others hiding her back.
ReplyDeletei chose the book into the wild. i chose it because I've always been interested in survival books and the story of how one can manage to survive in harsh conditions with not that many supplies. It starts off really slow nut a lot of books do and it spoils the ending before you reach the end of the book which i wasn't to happy about but i didn't except it to start off that way. but the journey follows Chris McCandless who leaves everything in his life and goes to reinvent himself as a person by traveling the country where he eventually ends up trapped in Alaska in a worn-down bus that doesn't work.
ReplyDeletei chose the book dawn. i chose this book mainly because its the book of what happened after the book night and the holocaust and what elie ends up doing after the holocaust and what he does after the holocaust is really the complete opposite of what i thought he or anyone could do after experiancing the holocaust but also very interesting to see what he decided to do with his life
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Night right now. I will never understand how Elie could relive these experiences by writing a book, but I get why he did it. To show the world that these kinds of things do happen.
DeleteI chose the book Night by Elie Wiesel. I chose this book because I wanted to read it before but never got the chance, so I figured why not read it now. It's a very quick read meaning it has 9 chapters and 114 pages. Even though it is short, it's a hard book to read. Elie talks about how when he first got to the camps, he continuously saw innocent people getting murdered. People would feel so exhausted that they would collapse on the ground, and they would get shot for doing so. Even though this book is hard to get through, it's a good read that I would recommend to anyone. Just make sure you can handle reading about awful things before you start.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book Its ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. I have always been interested in Colleen Hoovers books mainly because of the good reviews. I've seen a lot of people read it ends with us and thought I'd give it a try. The book gets you hooked right away, because it starts off on a rooftop in Boston where lily and Ryle first meet. Lily has an abusive background with her dad who passed away. Usually romance novels are cringy to me but this one is the complete opposite. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about romance, and touchy topics like abuse.
ReplyDeleteThe Book I chose was The Green Mile It was recommended to me when I was walking around the library looking for a book to read. The Green Mile was shown to me because I like mystery and crime novels. My initial thoughts of the story are that it is very good even only 30 pages in. It starts off with the introduction of the setting which is in the part of the prison where the prisoners that come in are getting the electric chair sentence.
ReplyDeleteI chose the silent patient because Ms. Reuter told me that it was a really good book. When she told me what the book was about I knew that I would like the book. I'm into a murder mystery type book. this one is kind of like a murder mystery because in the beginning you have no clue why she killed her husband the way she did.
